I am currently working for a life insurance general agency called the Producer's Group in Carmel Valley as an underwriter and executive assistant to the Director of Underwriting.
I have had many people ask me both inside and outside of work why I chose Religious Studies as my major instead of business, communication or one of the more popular so called "money making" majors. While I usually don't have a very detailed answer other than being interested in the topic of religion throughout my life, I can say that I am extremely pleased with the education that I received within the Religious Studies Department at SDSU. Not only did I have very talented, dedicated and kind professors, but the subject matter that was taught forced me to think in abstract and unique ways that have helped me in both my career and personal life.
Although I completed some graduate study in Sociology after receiving my Religious Studies degree, if I go back to graduate school it will probably be to study Religion and the Humanities again as that is where my passion lies.
I recommend the Religious Studies major at SDSU to anyone who wishes to strengthen not only their career path within any field but also their personal psyche, heart and soul.
