Scholarships & OpportunitiesThe Janice M. Dragin Scholarship For the Study of ReligionPeter Dragin, a graduate in Religious Studies from San Diego State University, has established a scholarship in his mother's name to help Religious Studies majors with their education. The scholarship pays $1,000 toward tuition for the Fall 2013 semester. If you are a Religious Studies Major please apply on-line through the SDSU Scholarship Office. Deadline: May 10, 2013 >>Download the Dragin scholarship flyer (.pdf) International Sacred Sites ScholarshipA generous donor to SDSU has provided funding for up to five scholarships for Religious Studies Majors to visit important religious sites in foreign countries. The scholarships, each in the amount of $1,900, are intended to support travel to at least three religious sites. The sites can be located in one or more countries and should be of significance. More than one religion can be represented by the sites. For example, a student could visit Christian, Jewish and Islamic sites in Jerusalem, or Hindu and Buddhist sites in India, or Catholic and Protestant sites in Europe. Students will be required to write a short essay of approximately 15 pages describing their experiences and may be asked to meet with the donor to share their experiences. Applications for the scholarships can be obtained from the Religious Studies Department (AL-662). |
