Minor in Religious Literacy for Health Professions
The minor in Religious Literacy for Health Professions is curated for students preparing for careers in the Health Professions. Religious Literacy means equipping students with skills to understand how religious traditions and practices impact ideas around health, wellness, ethics, and healing.
Because patients don’t leave their beliefs at the door.
The course work provides added value to personnel profiles as students seeking careers in the health professions embark on pathways to meaningful employment. The minor prepares students in nursing and allied health fields with the cultural and ethical insight needed for compassionate, effective, and culturally competent care.
Program of Study (total 15 units)
Lower Division (3 units):
- REL S 101 World Religions or REL S 258 Death, Dying, and Afterlife
Required Courses (6 units):
- REL S 363 Religion and the Sciences
- REL S 404 Religion, Medicine, and Health
Upper Division Electives (6 units):
- Any two courses (6 units) in REL S at the upper division
